Haflong SQ 1g
This oldie is a boozy aroma that’s dense. Wholesome, savory agallochan warmth, with a soft incense note that projects through – one you typically don’t smell in agallochan oud.
There’s zero fruity notes. Instead, it’s like smelling wafts of this dry rum-like scent at a slow-release incense ceremony. The scent smells condensed, asking you to keep smelling. It has a creamy, wildflower-pollen quality to it, with an earthen core as if fine mitti was filtered through an oud diffuser.
The ever-present undercurrent of incense has a deceptive Marokean quality to it. It’s a very subtle trait that makes you wonder what a vintage co-distillation of Indian and Papuan oud would have smelled like!
Haflong SQ shows you the smell so much of the Arabian oud tradition is inspired by. Those acclaimed and expensive ouds, the ones that are from ‘150 year-old’ aquilarias, the ones they don’t show you at the counter but in the private room in the back – a whiff of Haflong SQ and you’ll know what they’re all aiming for…
